Poiema

ποίημα

This is a Greek word used by the Apostle Paul in the New Testament.

It only appears 2 times and the first of these is found in Romans 1:20. Here, Paul explains that since the beginning of Creation, God has been revealing Himself to humanity through the beauty and majesty of His ‘Poiema’…His ’Creation’ or ‘Masterpiece’. The word could also be used mean a ‘Work of Art’. The point is clear…the incredible beauty of God’s Creation… His Masterpiece…His Work of Art, is how He revealed Himself to us.

In Ephesians 2:10 we find the only other time this word is used. Here Paul uses this unique and incredible word to describe us! That’s right, Paul says that you and I are now God’s special revelation to humanity. We are His Masterful Works of Art and He is going to reveal Himself to the world through us.

Poiema is also the root word from which we get the word Poem in the English language.

Each one of us is a unique special Creation…Masterpiece of God. If God sees us that way, and the Bible is clear that He does, we should also see ourselves and others that way.

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have done! You are God’s Masterpiece and He wants to write a beautiful and amazing poem for the world to see with your life.

You…are a Masterpiece!
